San Diego, California – sunny, warm and friendly, this beautiful south-west city is many traveller’s destination of choice for relaxing holidays filled with seaside walks and facinating history. It is home to over 30 museums, Sea World, Lego Land and fantastic seafood restaurants.
San Diego has a warm place in my heart as the first place I saw palm trees in their natural setting (they grow in Western Canada, but it’s not quite the same as seeing them waving in a warm ocean breeze). (more…)

First Stop – Victoria

Victoria, British Columbia
Located on the southern edge of Vancouver Island, Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia. An influx of elderly visitors and retiring residents over the years turned Victoria into a seniors’ mecca, but this beautiful part of the west coast with the mildest weather in Canada is now attracting young professionals and families. This combination of old and new, as it were, now gives the city a unique combination of businesses, restaurants and things to do.
I live on Vancouver Island, so there was a little humour our first stop of this Panama Cruise taking place 2 hours from my house. But being on vacation and in an exploring mood, this visit seemed as good a chance as any for my husband and I to see how Victoria measures up to a quick tourist visit. (more…)
