Thanksgiving with The Tran Family

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

I’m a big fan of jumping at cool and unusual ways to to take a trip (as exemplified by this month’s trip to compete on Wipeout Canada in Argentina). Today, on American Thanksgiving, I came across another impulsive traveller like me.

He’s an Australian journalist who has accidentally been getting Thanksgiving email invites and updates from a family in Florida for the past three years, as he shares the same name as a spouse of the family.

A few short days ago, James decided to take one of those fantastic, impulsive travel leaps, and reached out to The Trans to let them know that he wants to join them for Thanksgiving dinner this year.

I recommend watching the entire series of webisodes, I’m only posting the first below. James (and his accent) are adorable and, *spoiler alert*, The Trans are even more adorable and welcome him with open arms. I can’t wait to see how the dinner goes, I’m staying tuned.

Also hoping Martha posts a recipe for her Sage and Sausage stuffing, it sounds tasty!

We’d been pointed in the direction of a local pizza place by our hotel staff and not figuring we had much to lose, off we went to nearby El Cuartito for a traditional Argentina pizza experience, 76 years in the making. (more…)
