Billy Connelly’s Canada – travelling the famous Northwest Passage
Monday, January 24th, 2011
I’ve been watching comedian Billy Connelly’s incredible television show about his travels east to west along Canada’s Northwest Passage through the Arctic Circle and I cannot recommend it enough.
This is a different view of Canada, the extreme north that we are all proud to have as part of our country, but often know so little about. Billy is both respectful and amusingly irreverent as he travels by boats, planes, motorcycles and helicopters through the Northwest Passage, meeting locals and going to places that most of us will never see with our own eyes. The camera work is particularly spectacular, capturing our Great White North in a completely new way, making me even prouder of our amazing nation.
The series is currently playing on American PBS and is available on DVD.

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010
Making my own candy at Christmas is a yearly tradition and I’m looking forward to trying some new things this year to give as gifts to friends and family.
With that in mind, I was very excited to see Saveur.com’s beautiful online list of recipes for homemade candy. I’m already eyeballing the Strawberry Marshmallows, Peppermint Caramels and Cinnamon Hard Candies.
Time to break out the sugar!
