Mira Flores Lock, Panama Canal, Panama

Travelling through the Mira Flores Lock at the Pacific side of the Panama Canal on the MS Ryndam, October 2009. Our ship was closely followed by a Princess cruise ship using the ‘other lane’ of this double lock.

Cruising the Alaska Inside Passage

An iceberg floats by on a sunny late afternoon sailing through Alaskan waters on the way to view a glacier on the NCL Star, August 2008. There were regular clanging and banging noises throughout the afternoon as we hit smaller pieces of ice. A tad too “titanic” for my liking, but an amazing experience overall.

King’s Beach, Newport, Rhode Island

Watching the tide coming in on a rainy winter afternoon near King’s Beach in Newport, Rhode Island in November of 2006. This area is where many of the area’s remaining private mansions are located and the camera catches a glimpse of one (possibly Seafair?) in the distance. Stunning area, and unlike in summer, on a November day you can walk for miles on the beach without seeing another person.

Loreto, Baja Penninsula, Mexico

Pelicans dive bombing the harbour for fish in Loreto, Mexico in the Baja Peninsula. MS Statendam is moored in the distance.

Juneau Harbour, Juneau, Alaska

Watching a complete Abandon Ship lifeboat drill take over most of the Juneau Harbour, from our balcony on the NCL Star.
